A thought came to my mind. China has produced great sages such as Confucius and Mencius, and many people have studied and admired their teachings. However, simply reading their writings or knowing their names does not make someone Confucius or Mencius.

Likewise, if a king was born in your hometown, that does not make everyone from that town a king. What truly matters is not the name we carry or the group we belong to, but whether we live according to the principles and spirit of those we admire.

In the same way, I believe that faith is not just about knowing Jesus' words or calling ourselves Christians. What matters is our sincere effort to follow His example and put His teachings into practice in our daily lives. To me, the depth of faith is revealed not by words alone, but by the way we live.

문득 이런 생각이 들었습니다. 중국에는 공자와 맹자라는 훌륭한 성현이 있었고, 그들의 가르침을 따르는 사람들도 많았습니다. 

그러나 그분들의 글을 읽거나 이름을 안다고 해서 모두 공자나 맹자가 되는 것은 아닙니다. 또 어떤 고을에서 왕이 태어났다고 해서 그 고을 사람 모두가 왕이 되는 것도 아닙니다. 

중요한 것은 이름이나 소속이 아니라, 그 정신과 가르침을 얼마나 삶으로 실천하며 닮아가느냐일 것입니다. 마찬가지로 신앙도 예수님의 말씀을 아는 것만으로 충분한 것이 아니라, 그 말씀을 삶 속에서 닮아가려는 노력이 더 중요하지 않을까 생각합니다. 그래서 저는 신앙의 깊이는 말보다 삶에서 드러난다고 믿습니다.
